Tough 8-Year-Old Survives Being Raped and Left For Dead
Unable to speak, Jennifer scribbled out notes describing her attacker.
On August 9, 1990, Jennifer Schuett was sound asleep when a man broke into her Dickinson, Texas, home and snatched her from the comfort of her own bed. Startled awake, the 8-year-old asked the man who he was and where he was taking her. He told Jennifer he was an undercover police officer, gave her candy, and promised that her mom would pick her up soon.
Instead, he drove Jennifer to a field where he raped her and slit her throat, leaving her to bleed out and die, unable to scream for help.
Nearly 14 hours later, Jennifer was rescued by schoolchildren who had gone to the field to play and discovered her clinging to life. She was airlifted to a hospital where she scribbled out notes describing her attacker from the brand of cigarettes he smoked right down to his tattoos.
Miraculously, Jennifer made a full recovery and was back at home with her family just two weeks later. Sadly, she lived in fear for the next twenty years as her attacker remained free.
